Talbot Unit 7
Talbot County
Reliable Energy to Meet Growing Demand
Oglethorpe Power is expanding its existing Talbot Energy Facility with an additional natural gas-fired generation unit. The new unit is part of our long-term planning to help maintain reliable electric service for families, schools, farms and businesses served by Georgia’s EMCs.
This new 240-megawatt unit, powered by advanced Siemens Energy technology, will become the seventh unit at our existing Talbot Energy Facility.

Community Benefits
The new Talbot unit generates more than reliable energy for a growing Georgia—it brings economic growth and opportunity to Talbot County. Our History in Talbot County
Oglethorpe Power has proudly operated in Talbot County for decades and is the county’s largest taxpayer. We value our longstanding partnership with the local community and remain committed to supporting Talbot County through reliable energy generation, local investment and community engagement.
Existing Operations
- For more than two decades, we’ve proudly owned and safely operated the Talbot Energy Facility, a six-unit natural gas-fired combustion turbine plant. Our new unit will be the seventh at the site.
- We recently added dual-fuel enhancements to four of the existing units at the Talbot Energy Facility, increasing energy reliability for Georgians.
The new unit at our Talbot Energy Facility will add to Oglethorpe Power’s diverse energy portfolio and will help maintain reliable electric service for communities served by Georgia’s EMCs.
