Oglethorpe Power Delivers $745,000 Tax Payment to Talbot County

Talbotton, GA (Feb. 13, 2024) – Today, Oglethorpe Power, Flint Energies and Upson EMC presented Oglethorpe Power’s 2023 ad valorem tax payment of more than $745,000 to the Talbot County Tax Commissioner’s office, which will benefit the county’s school systems and local government. The payment is for Oglethorpe Power’s ownership of the Talbot Energy Facility, a 679-megawatt natural gas-fired generation asset located in Talbot County.

Oglethorpe Power is a wholesale electric power cooperative that is owned by and serves 38 consumer-owned, not-for-profit distribution cooperatives across Georgia, including Flint Energies and Upson EMC, which provide electric service in Talbot County and other area counties.

As an engaged corporate citizen in many counties throughout the state, Oglethorpe Power is dedicated to fostering strong community relationships and identifying areas of need that can enhance the quality of life for Georgia residents, with an emphasis on supporting underserved youth and enabling development through leadership and education programs. Recently, the company funded the purchase of new turnout gear for the Talbot County volunteer fire department. Oglethorpe Power has also supported Feeding the Valley food bank, sponsored 4-H’s Project Safe, donated to the Central Elementary-High School after-school program and provided funding for the REACH Georgia scholarship program.
