Oglethorpe Power Delivers $375,000 Tax Payment to Hart County

Hartwell, GA (Feb. 22, 2024) – Today, Oglethorpe Power and Hart EMC presented Oglethorpe Power’s 2023 ad valorem tax payment of more than $375,000 to the Hart County Tax Commissioner’s office, which will benefit the county’s school systems and local government. The payment is for Oglethorpe Power’s ownership of the Hartwell Energy Facility, a 306-megawatt natural gas-fired generation asset in Hart County.

Oglethorpe Power is a wholesale electric power cooperative that is owned by and serves 38 consumer-owned, not-for-profit distribution cooperatives across Georgia, including Hart EMC, which provides electric service in Hart County and other area counties.
