Oglethorpe Power Delivers $37 Million Tax Payment to Burke County

Waynesboro, GA (Feb. 6, 2024) – Today Oglethorpe Power, Planters EMC and Jefferson Energy Cooperative presented Oglethorpe Power’s 2023 ad valorem tax payment of more than $37 million to the Burke County Tax Commissioner’s office, which will benefit the county’s school systems and local government. “In addition to generating reliable, cost-effective electricity for electric cooperative consumers, Oglethorpe Power is dedicated to being an active corporate citizen in the communities we’re invested in,” said Mike Smith, Oglethorpe Power President & CEO. “We believe in being a committed community partner, and we take pride in fostering positive social impact in Burke County, a vibrant community that Plant Vogtle calls home.”
