Oglethorpe Power Submits Large Tax Payment to Talbot County

(TUCKER, GA., Jan. 25, 2021)  – Oglethorpe Power Corp. recently made its  2020 ad valorem tax payment of $575,771.56 to the Talbot County Tax Commissioner’s office. The payment is for Oglethorpe Power’s ownership of the Talbot Energy Facility, a gas-fired combustion turbine power plant.

Oglethorpe Power is a wholesale electric power cooperative owned by and serving 38 electric membership corporations in Georgia, including Upson EMC and Flint Energies, which provide electric service in Talbot County and other area counties.

For 2020, Oglethorpe Power estimates it will pay more than $47 million in ad valorem taxes for power generation facilities that it owns or co-owns on behalf of its Member EMCs, including Upson EMC and Flint Energies.
