Upson EMC, Flint Energies and Oglethorpe Power Present Large Talbot County Tax Payment

(TUCKER, GA., Jan. 30, 2020) – Officials from Upson EMC, Flint Energies, and Oglethorpe Power Corp. recently presented Oglethorpe Power’s 2019 ad valorem tax payment of $597,542.67 to the Talbot County Tax Commissioner’s office.

The payment is for Oglethorpe Power’s ownership of the Talbot Energy Facility, a gas-fired combustion turbine power plant.
Oglethorpe Power is a wholesale electric power cooperative owned by and serving 38 electric membership corporations in Georgia, including Upson EMC and Flint Energies, which provides electric service in Talbot County and other area counties.

Around the state, Oglethorpe Power will pay over $43 million in 2019 ad valorem taxes for power-generating facilities that it owns or co-owns on behalf of its Member EMCs.
