Hart EMC And Oglethorpe Power Present Large Hart County Tax Payment

(TUCKER, GA, Jan. 7, 2020)  – Officials from Hart EMC and Oglethorpe Power Corp. recently presented Oglethorpe Power’s 2019 ad valorem tax payment of $378,222.51 to the Hart County Tax Commissioner’s office.

The payment is for Oglethorpe Power’s ownership of the Hartwell Energy Facility, a natural gas-powered plant capable of producing more than 300 megawatts of electric power.

Oglethorpe Power is a wholesale electric power cooperative owned by and serving 38 electric membership corporations in Georgia, including Hart EMC, which provides electric service in Hart County and other area counties.

Around the state, Oglethorpe Power will pay approximately $43 million in 2019 ad valorem taxes for power-generating facilities that it owns or co-owns on behalf of its Member EMCs.
